"The gods are dead"
His Majesty, king Adedapo, the Ologiro of Ogiro has just been elated after the birth of the price he most expected, the new born Prince marked to be named Adeyanju died after two hours of his birth.
Could the gods be dead?, Iyalode asked
Otun: No, impossible, before the beginning of man were the gods and alive they will remain as long as this land is covered with sands.
Osi: But don't let us just assume things, i think Iyalode's question made sence, because if the gods are not dead, kabiesi has clocked 70 and still the only prince he has hoped for died just after birth.
Iyalode: Otun!!!, this issue was seen as joke but now it's becoming a reality, hope Kabiesi will not die without heir?.
Otun could not answer when Olori Agba entered with wails and cries,
The king has slumped and died.
Ogun ooooooooo, what is happening, Balogun muttered buf even Ogun itself was not there to answer.
*3 weeks after the King's death*
The chiefs summoned the 'Oluawo' for oracle consultation because the throne cannot be left empty for too long....
Otun: Oluawo, please help the village consult the oracle on the steps to be taken now
(Oluawo made some incarnations, and spoke with oracle)
Oluawo: I greet the chiefs and the community at large, the oracle said before a new king can be crowned, the community has to send 7 Strong youths to the Forbidden Forest of Wizards (Igbo Oso).
These youths will walk past all hurdles and challenges and when they make it there, any man they meet there is the chosen king.
The chiefs summoned the oracle again to bless the chosen youths, among them was Akanji, Akanji could have run away just to escape this quest... His mind was drenched with sorrow as he caught Asake's eyes
Asake had just agreed to Akanji's marriage proposal after a long year trial. But this unexpected misfortune is bringing them apart,
Asake could not help those tears as her love was being escorted to the Forbidden Forest of Wizards...
The gods are dead
Asaka was crying bitterly behind an orange tree, she remember the nice moments she always shared with Akanji, she felt the pains of being lonely and there she sat all night profusely weeping...
Asake, you don't have to kill yourself with tears, do you not hear the elders say "If a horse throw you to the ground, then you need to get up and climb again", who knows if Akanji will make it back alive from the Forbidden Forest of Wizards, you need to accept Onikoko's son proposal and go on with marriage before it's too late.
As asake's grandmother popularly called Iya agba finished her statement, Asake stood up, she looked at Iya Agba's face and wanted to give it a dirty slap but she controlled her temper, she hissed and walked away.
Iya agba stared at her as she made her way inside, she shaked her head and said..." God, let who we warn listen, let them heed the elder's advice.
Iya agba continued... " I don't even know the type of love this two rats have that they find it hard to breathe without each other, or have they make a vow?.
Before iya agba could make another statement, she unconsciously screamed in agony and Asake rushed out just to find oit her grandma has been bitten by a snake...
Akanji was sitting amidst his co-envoys, they were all deliberating as they sat round the fire they made to lighten up the night, but Akanji has been quiet all the while, all he could think of is Asake, he missed her gentle smiles, he missed the calmness in her voice whenever she talkes, he wished for another kiss of relieve as he also long for her words of love.
All this were happening when they hear a squeak in the bush, they ignored as they took it as the rats playing around. Seconds later the sound came louder and more terrifying, this time it seems the bearer was coming to them.
They stood up and started running, and as soon as they began to run, the sound came loud enough as it was following them, Akanji soon became tired and he crossed his feet against a wood and fell on the ground...At this point, the others waited and summoned the courage to face their predator, at least to see what it is.
They waited fearfully anticipating and when the sound arrived...
